Shelterhouses
Shelterhouse rentals close for the season on November 18, 2026.
Schedule your event in the beautiful and natural setting of a forest preserve! Twenty-three shelterhouse facilities are available in 17 different preserves. A shelterhouse reservation requires a fee and covers the entire day, from 7:00 a.m. until sunset. Shelterhouses can be reserved below or at the Forest Preserve District office at 5500 Northrock Drive, Rockford, IL 61103. Reservations open on the first Monday in February online and at the Forest Preserve District office starting at 8:00am for the following season.
