2026 Seasonal Employment
Campground Host (Hononegah Forest Preserve)
Serves as an informational source to the public with respect to the preserve, activities within the preserve, and community attractions. Represents the Forest Preserve District in a positive manner and maintains a working knowledge of rules and regulations. The typical season is mid-April to mid-November. Minimum stay requirement of four weeks (although hosts may stay longer if desired) with the ability to be on duty an average of 30 hours per week, the majority of these being weekend hours. Campground Attendant (Sugar River Forest Preserve)
Serves as an informational source to the public with respect to the campground, activities within the preserve, and community attractions. Represents the Forest Preserve District in a positive manner and maintains a working knowledge of rules and regulations in order to effectively communicate and educate campground customers. Processes Point of Sale (P.O.S.) transactions with campground customers, monitors reservations and campground activity. The typical season is mid-April to mid-November. Weekends and Holidays required, with scheduled hours falling primarily on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, between 7:00am and 10:30pm. View the complete job description here. Natural Resource Assistant
Works to restore the ecological conditions that promote and preserve native plant and animal communities in the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County's prairies, wetlands and woodlands. A forty-hour work week is not guaranteed and is dependent on weather conditions and workload. Food & Beverage Associate - Atwood Homestead, Macktown, Ledges Golf Courses
Promotes and maintains proper food handling and preparation procedures at District golf courses (prepping, cooking and/or storing food) following rules and regulations as set forth by the State of Illinois and the Winnebago County Health Department.
